Established in 2009, Matsuri at UC San Diego (also known as SDMatsuri) is dedicated to spreading rich Japanese culture throughout UC San Diego and the greater San Diego community. Through events, food, games, and performances, we celebrate Japanese traditions, foster connections, and create a space for everyone to explore a piece of Japan

Matsuri Committees

Our team of student volunteers help us build Matsuri into the event that it is.

Food

Specializes in researching and creating different foods from Matsuri, testing new foods, and leading a team to execute the operations of prep and cooking

Games

Researches and creates a variety of games for Matsuri, testing out different games, and looking for ways to make the event engaging through activities.

Performances

Heads the entire performances throughout Matsuri, reaching out to UC San Diego and San Diego performers and coordinating with University partners

Sponsorship

Reaches out to a variety of different companies and organizations to ask for fiscal assistance or assistance through assets and products such as food ingredients

Presentation

In charge of asthetics for the entire event, such as signage, paintings, floor plan design, and more.

Finance

Manages the entire financial systems that Matsuri has, budgeting at the beginning of the year, and coordinating with our partners.
